Spring Mix-and-Match

Kana here.  It's almost May.  That means it's finally spring in Boston or, with the way things are, anywhere from spring to summer.  But this time we have some nice summery outfits for a mix-and-match wardrobe.  The lavender knit, the multicolor floral knit, and the two-tone purple knit were all cut down from a girl's dress.

First off, dresses and leggings.  The sundress is made from the LJC California Cami pattern and the knit dress from the Tri-city dress pattern.  We also have tunic versions of those, worn over denim.  The jean skirt is from the LJC miniskirt, and the white jeans are from the All Dolled Up best fit jeans pattern.  (Eventually, the human will find a jeans pattern she likes and will read the instructions before sewing.  Eventually.  Until then, hilarity will ensue.)

We meant it when we said 'mix-and-match'.  Also in this set:  a purple tshirt with silver stars, a raglan top with floral sleeves, and a plain lavender tank top.  Worn with a floral knit skirt, jeans, or a super-cool vintage handkerchief skirt.

The top layer is a whole vintage handkerchief with ballerinas all around the border and a pretty scalloped border, and the bottom layer is a quilting cotton.

We're showing off some of our favorite outfits from this collection.  The handkerchief skirt is everyone's favorite, and we can never have enough jeans.  (In that we only have two pairs of jeans.  Go sew more, human.)  There's also the off-the-shoulder tee for layer with rhinestones that spell out 'angel'.  We need more tank tops to layer it with, honestly.  Which of these was your favorite?

Emergency Pizza

Cauthrien here.  I've kicked everyone else out of the kitchen for the moment to actually make some food.  Aren't these pizzas gorgeous?

One is a pepperoni, bell pepper, and onion pizza.  The other a bacon, bell pepper, and onion.  They're both small pizzas, the equivalent of a 10" pizza for humans.  They also fit on my baking sheets (which is why they're not bigger).  The other girls haven't had a chance to try them yet, so I'll have to keep the furry bandit away.

More classic girls' novels

Cauthrien here.  Anora and I are still working through the backlog of books to document for the library.  (Yes, we are still behind.  There's at least another 30 completed books we haven't documented, and I see the stacks of papers for even more.  We will still be behind for a few months...)

The human has always been partial to classic girls' novels, including some slightly more obscure ones, perhaps because we already own the most popular ones?  The latest batch of novels includes "Daddy-long-legs" and "Dear Enemy" (Jean Webster), "Pollyanna" and "Pollyanna Grows Up" (Eleanor Porter), "Heidi", "Understood Betsy" (Dorothy Canfield), "The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew", and finally, "Alice In Wonderland" (Lewis Caroll).

Of these, I think the favorites among us are "Understood Betsy", "Daddy-long-legs", and "Dear Enemy".  As always, everything has real text and images inside.  Why have blank books?

Random Sewing

Hi!  It's Kana.  I've reclaimed my spot from all those interlopers to show off my newest dress.  Isn't it gorgeous?  It's all black and red brocade with these giant sleeves lined with satin.  I don't usually do the princess look (that's so Anora's thing), but this time I claimed the dress before anyone else did.

Some close ups and side views.  It has this trailing skirt, and the belt is actually this piece of random trim from the human's trim stash.  I think it came in one of the 'random bags of ribbons and trim' that the human has a horrible tendency to buy.  In this case, it worked out great.

I was supposed to wear this to an SCA event, but it wasn't completed in time.  I'm going to save it for a special occasion.

Speaking of pretty outfits, Anora is the queen of adorable in this new sweater/skirt combo.  Both pieces are cut down from a girl's dress, and the rose applique is an iron-on.  It's the perfect classy school-girl look, especially with an old-fashioned backpack.

(We have all the backpacks.  And school supplies.  I think we may actually all have our own backpacks, which would be a bloody miracle given how we share everything else.  *ahem*.)

Classic horror stories

Anora here.  These were actually the books the human made for Halloween last year.  I believe we may have fallen behind slightly in documenting the extent of our library...

None of us actually enjoy gothic horror that much, but the classics are classics for a reason.  We have Carmilla (it's a rather special novel, and predates Dracula for gothic vampires.), the classics Dracula and Frankenstein, and finally, a copy of 'The Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe.

I think we will save these for Halloween again...

A spring bakery scene

Anora here!  Welcome to our bakery!

(Don't ask about who made the food.  Really.  It's better for everyone that way.  Also, we're not liable for anything that happens if you decide to eat something Lily made.)

This is actually what happens when the human get curious about just how much miniature food and food-shaped erasers actually exist in the house.  The answer:  this many.  Enough to fill all the baking trays and then some.  We may have run out of display space before we ran out of pastries.  We certainly used all the trays the human had in storage, plus all the acrylic shelving, plus all the display furniture.

The cake and sandwich cart
Bread, tarts, pies, and doughnuts

The human may have decided that we no longer need to buy every single new food accessory...  We really don't.  We do need the human to start making doll-sized versions of everything she sees on the Great British Bake Off.  Or we need to hold a bake-off.  That would work too.

"Macarons, anyone?"
"We have lots of cupcakes if you want.  And cakes and eclairs and cream puffs."
"And petit-fours and cookies.  And s'mores."
"We even have some savory sandwiches."
"I can haz?"
Note:  this was set up for at least 3 days without anything being knocked over

Animal stories

Hello.  It's Anora.  I've taken over for Nellie in showing off some the newest novels in our collection.  I enjoy adventure stories much more than romances, so it's my great pleasure to have two of the most famous Jack London novels, Call of the Wild and White Fang.  These have the first edition covers.

I am now also the proud owner of the The Jungle Book (with the complete short story "Mowgli's Pack") and The Second Jungle Book (with the complete short story "Rikki-tikki-tavi").  These stories even have the full illustrations from the original books.  Aren't they darling?

Magical potions and other drinks

Cauthrien here.  My only explanation for this is that Anora convinced me I should do this.  I do not have any idea why she thinks this is a good idea other than she's spent far too much time with Shep and Lily recently.  I am, usually, the last person you want attempting to hold polite conversation.  Yet here I am, attempting to man the drinks counter.

You can tell, by the number of things that only vaguely resemble drinks, that Lily's been rather busy.  I do not know or care to know what her potions do.  I only want them to be not my problem.  Which, at the moment, they are.

Refreshing Nuka Cola.  In six flavors.
Somewhere, I know we have actual drinks.  But for now, we have some rather exotic (and radioactive) Nuka Cola, in original, cherry, victory, quantum, and quartz.  This can't actually be blamed on Lily.  It's entirely the human's fault.
